Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the original Yakuza gamethat updated its engine while adding new features first introduced in Yakuza 0. From Majima Everywhere to four unique fighting styles, Yakuza Kiwami changed a lot to the original Yakuza formula while keeping its charm.

Yakuza Kiwami has tons of upgrades you can choose from, and experience points are far from a rarity. As such, you'll be working towards upgrades in no time, especially with how much experience Majima Everywhere gives you. Some of the upgrades stand apart from the others and rest above the rest as some of the best in the entire game.
10 Boost Attack Upgrades
Nothing is more important in combat than the amount of damage you do. As such, all of the Boost Attack upgrades are among the best. There's a lot of them in the Body upgrade tree, with six different boosts available. It does take a lot of experience to upgrade it fully, but it's more than worth it.
In order to easily take care of enemies, these damage boosts are vital. If you max out on all of the Boost Attack upgrades, the random encounters on the street will take mere seconds to get through, and bosses will become much easier, as well.
9 Boost Health Upgrades
After damage, health is the next most important thing in a Yakuza game. By having a lot of health, it will make the need to carry around a ton of healing items less needed. It does mean that to fully recover health at restaurants you'll be deeper more into your pockets though.

With how tough some of the Yakuza Kiwami bosses are, having as much health as possible is most ideal. As such, Boost Health is one of the best upgrades you can invest in, all available in the Body tree.
8 Change Up Abilities
Change Up abilities are a series of upgrades that allow you to change your stance after performing a certain action. These range from changing your stance after using a finishing blow after a rush combo, to changing after throwing an object.
Each stance is stronger in different situations, so having a way to easily switch between the two without breaking the flow of combat is fantastic. Going from Beast stance in a large crowd to Rush once it's down to just one enemy, Change Up abilities are incredibly useful ones to have.
7 Charge Combo
Charge Combo is an upgrade you can get early on in the Tech tree. It's a skill that's exclusive to the Beast style, and fantastic for taking out large groups of enemies. It changes your last attack of a rush combo in that stance into a charging swinging attack.
This upgrade is especially useful for dealing with large groups of enemies. In addition to that, it can even be used to cheese out wins against Majima's harder stances like Slugger since it comes with armor that prevents you from being knocked down during it.
6 Black Tortoise Spirit
Black Tortoise Spirit is one of the earliest upgrades you can get in the Soul tree and one that you want to get right away. It's usable in both the Brawler and Dragon styles, and it will build up your Heat Gauge as you block.

You'll be blocking quite a bit throughout the course of any Yakuza Kiwami playthrough, and Heat Actions are the main way you'll be closing out fights. Without it, you'll lose Heat while not attacking, so being able to be defensive while building up Heat is a great tool to have.
5 Re-Guard
You'll be doing quite a bit of blocking in Yakuza Kiwami, and with the mechanics of some of the bosses, you'll be needing to cut off combos short in order to put your guard up. When your guard gets broken, however, you'll be stunned and open for an attack.
Luckily, Re-Guard is a Tech ability that will allow you to counteract this stunning effect. When your guard is broken, you can put your arms right back up, and this is usually enough to survive the combo the enemy is throwing at you.
4 Double Finishing Blow
Double Finishing Blow is one of the last Tech abilities you can get, and boosts up your Brawler style. At the end of your rush combo in that stance, you'll be able to add on an extra finishing blow on top of the first.
This allows you to deal out extra damage in every Brawler combo, which is especially useful since it's one of the most damaging ones for single enemies. This allows you to consistently take care of enemies with just one combo, which comes especially useful for random encounters.
3 Komaki Cat-Like Reflexes
Komaki Cat-Like Reflexes is one of the Dragon style upgrades you get by going through Komaki's training by giving him paintings. This one in particular is especially useful since it can prevent you from being knocked down to the ground.

When you're sent back, you can quickly hit your evade button to jump right back up to your feet and lose no speed, going right back to attacking without being able to be hit while you're down. This is especially useful in boss fights where this is a common occurrence, and bosses can do a lot more if they manage to knock you down.
2 Extreme Dragon Speed
Extreme Dragon Speed is one of the last Dragon style upgrades you get throughout Majima Everywhere. It greatly boosts your attack speed while your Heat Gauge is active. This attack speed is incredibly fast and allows you to quickly dismantle hordes of enemies.
Once upgraded, the Dragon stance is the strongest in the game, with some of the highest damage output at high speeds, which is thanks to Extreme Dragon Speed. When you're surrounded by enemies, attack speed is incredibly important so you can hit them before they hit you.
1 Komaki Tiger Drop
The Komaki Tiger Drop has been one of the most iconic moves in all of the Yakuza games. It's an insanely powerful counter-attack, that in Yakuza Kiwami is gotten through Komaki's training.
The damage output of the Komaki Tiger Drop is by far the most damaging in the entire game and can defeat an entire boss in just a few hits. By unlocking it, combat becomes almost trivial with how little effort is needed when you have the Komaki Tiger Drop at your fingertips. It's been consistently the best upgrade in every game it's appeared in, and Yakuza Kiwami is no exception.
