Godspeed tattoo is easily one of the most sanitary shops in South Side. The tattoo artists, especially Nick, are great. I got my first tattoo from Nick and he did awesome. A beautiful classic rose. They take sanitation seriously here, which is amazing. Your risk of infection drops substantially when you go to a clean shop. For tattoos, I would recommend this shop to anyone getting anything done. My tattoo healed beautifully and looks amazing. Thank you Nick! Also! Touch-ups are completely free! Read Less

Came in for a Friday the 13th Tattoo. I figured it was a good way to gauge the pain for a bigger piece in the future. Happy to find that I have a high pain tolerance. The Friday the 13th deal is $13 tattoos with a mandatory $13 tip. They have bigger pieces that are $31 with the mandatory $13 tip too. Shading costs $10 extra and placement outside of the legs and arms is extra. They had a number of pieces on sheets with the assigned price. I picked a steaming tea cup with 13 written in the steam. Since it was my first tattoo I was very nervous and had a lot of questions about the healing and care process. Chris 2 took the time to answer all mquestions. Definitely the cleanest tattoo parlor on Carson St. I came in with a couple of my friends to get our first tattoos ever and I am extremely happy with the result that I got from Becca, however she did not give me ANY advice on how to care for my tattoo or even how long to keep the bandage on. She didn't even come to the counter to have me pay...she told me to go to the ATM and then come back to her cubicle and give her the cash. She finally became friendly after I gave her a $20 tip that was not deserved if it was based solely on friendliness and information given to me for aftercare. However, because the tattoo looks nice, I will give it 3 stars. My friends tattoo artist who was a guy was much nicer and informative Read Less

I called Godspeed Tattoo at 10:11 PM to confirm that the tattoo artists would be able to accommodate us, since the website said they were open until 12 AM. The man who answered the phone told us it would be possible if we made it to the salon by 10:30 PM. So, when we walked in (literally) at exactly 10:30 PM, we didn't expect to be treated with such animosity by the girl at the front desk. She was clearly annoyed that we showed up towards the end of her shift, even though the website stated that she still had an hour and a half left in her shift. My boyfriend got his first tattoo here tonight, so we were hoping it would be a fun experience. Instead, it was extremely awkward because the girl doing the tattoo would not engage in conversation with us, even though we were directly talking to her. I truly hope the other tattoo artists aren't as rude as this women. Read Less

Went here for a Friday the 13th tattoo for $31. It's my first tattoo and I went to several shops on Carson looking at the flash. The flash here was by far the best. The shop was the cleanest, most welcoming, and most comfortable. I'm overall pleased with my owl and the artist was very efficient without making me feel rushed. The tattoo is on my ankle, so my boyfriend took a picture so I could see more detail. I noticed that at the diamond peak between the eyes has an extra straight line, like the artist began straight widows peak and then realized it was actually a little diamond. Hardly anybody else would notice but it bothers me a bit since it will be there forever. I acknowledge that I went cheap here and I liked the shop in general, just a bit disappointed. Read Less

I had a previous tattoo done here by Chris, and he did a very nice job. However, my friend and I went back a few weeks ago for small ankle tattoos, and the artist (not Chris) did a horrible job. My tattoo isn't even black, ink is missing in the center, it looks horrible. I also have tried contacting them twice in the past couple days to get this fixed / cleaned up, and no response. Was up in the area visiting some friends and we decided to get some ink. My friend heard this place had some amazing artists so we checked out the portfolios and they weren't lying. Dude named Kevin was who ended up doing my work. What a solid guy. He worked with me trying to design something in the fly for a cover up I needed from going to a subpar place many years ago. It's basically all black and very difficult to cover but Kevin asked what I was thinking and drew something up for me. He worked with me as he designed it and made it exactly what I wanted. His art work is amazing and he's a very personable guy. I really feel lucky I was able to get my work done by him. If you're in the area and want some great art work done by a dude who isn't rude or pretentious and makes you feel at home, head over to God Speed and ask for Kevin, you won't be disappointed. I came here with my spouse who wanted to get her nipples pierced. She was hoping to get it done with some privacy, either a separate room or some sort of barrier for comfort. The piercers here were unhelpful, unwilling to offer any privacy whatsoever, and condescending about the request. They seemed judgmental and uninterested in our business, even though the shop was empty. We took our money to Hot Rod Piercing just a few blocks away, and were very happy with our experience there. Came here to get my first tattoo with some of my friends last month. I was terrified of course because I didn't know what to expect. I called and made an appointment with Chris #2 for myself and my friends since my friend referred him to us and dropped off my deposit that night. The next evening as soon as I walked in i was so excited to finally get some work done. The color of the shop is an aqua/teal color which oddly relaxed me, and Chris #2 had such a great sense of humor I was comfortable in no time.My friends went first and were shocked at how gentle of a hand Chris had, as they already had tattoos, and said he was nearly painless compared to their past experiences. I finally got my work done and ended up getting 3 tattoos done that day for only $80, one even had color. Their minimum is $60 but they price things pretty fairly.I actually caught myself going back last week and got a fourth tattoo, needless to say, I think I accidentally turned into a tattoo junkie as I have many more planned for this summer. Now I have scars on my nipples. I went somewhere else for them to take a look and they were amazed at how wrongly they were pierced and said other people came in that went to god speed to get help. 90$ down the drain just to have scars on my body. I've been getting tattooed by Mook for over 4 years. There's absolutely no one else I would suggest to anyone I know. 10th Street Tattoo and Godspeed are some of the cleanest and most sterile shops i've ever stepped into; compared to many that are all throughout south side.These artists know their sh*t and are incredibly talented. They don't hire any joe schmoe off the street to come in and tattoo so you should be reassured that you're being tattoo'd and/or pierced by some of... the nicest yinzers in town. I also can't express how awesome the owner and piercer, Madi, is at GodSpeed. She's one of the kindest piercers i've ever met and easily makes any piercing whether its your junk or a simple stud in your nose, a piece of cake. She knows her sh*t and i'd suggest her to anyone who wants a decent piercing for sure. I promise if you step foot into either shop, you will go back every time just like I have.
